Stop clear-cut logging in Howe Sound

4033 signed. Let's get to 5000.

Urgent! Deadline: April 30th, 2021

The BC Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resource Operations (FLNRO) is seeking public input to establish new Visual Quality Objectives (VQO) for logging in the Sunshine Coast Natural Resource District (SCNRD) that could inform logging in Howe Sound for up to 20 years.

SEE THE MAP

The proposed guidelines permit clear-cut, retention-cut, and partial-cut logging of up to 18% of the viewscape, with most of western Howe Sound designated for:

  • Retention (0% to 1.5% logged)
  • Partial retention (1.6% to 7% logged)
  • Modification (7.1% to 18% logged)

Please take a moment to send a letter calling for all of Howe Sound to be designated for Preservation (0% logged).

This is a critical opportunity to protect our forests for future generations.

Deadline for public comments: April 30th, 2021
